Cost Guides and Explainers

Written to be useful whether or not you ever call us. Each page explains what drives the decision or the price, cites any third-party figure it uses, and says plainly where no citable number exists.

All resources

Four guides at launch, with more added as they are written properly rather than quickly.

How these are written

Almost every cost question in this trade is answered online with a number and no explanation of what produced it. That is worse than useless when you are trying to work out whether a quote in front of you is reasonable, because the number you found has no connection to your building.

So these pages are written the other way round. They start from what moves the price, explain the mechanism, and only then quote published figures from named third parties with a link so you can check the source and its date. Where no citable figure exists for something, the page says so and gives you the drivers instead of inventing a range.

Three rules apply to every page here, and they are set out in full in the editorial policy:

  • Every number that is not our own observation is attributed and linked, with the source’s own date where it publishes one.
  • No AyalaKi price, rate or “starting at” figure appears, because this work is priced from the building.
  • Technical claims are checkable. Specifications are sourced to standards bodies and platform documentation rather than to other marketing pages.

Where these lead

Each guide links to the service page that does the work, so you can go from understanding the problem to getting it quoted.

Prefer to just ask? Describe your building and the problem and you will get a straight answer, or see the full list of questions.

Still want a number for your own building?

That takes a site visit, and it is free. You get a written scope you can compare against any other quote.
